I'm sure we've all had them - one of those mornings where all we wanted to do is sleep. And part of it was really weird dreams inspired by Grimm's Fairy Tales, concepts of time travel and timey-wimey balls, and running through a cemetery. (Just...don't ask. I honestly have no idea either.) I finally managed to drag myself out of bed at nine-thirty and even that felt like way to early. Which is odd because I have been getting enough sleep.

Last night was fun, as [livejournal.com profile] amberdexterious and I sat two rows from the stage. I was in prime position to take some photos of my sister in action (thanks to the high sensitivity setting on my camera), while Sabrina, [livejournal.com profile] sideshow_ericka and [livejournal.com profile] travellyr sat up in the nosebleed section. I enjoyed the show, even if I think parts of it were a bit inappropriate for a high school production. (Do we really need fourteen-year-olds singing about reading Playboy, drinking martinis, and trying to juggle a mistress and a wife? If it's not inappropriate, it's certainly in poor taste.) Yes, I realize that the show is set in the nineteen sixties, but yeesh!

Today was slow to start (see the above statement about weird dreams), but I finally kicked in high gear. I've finished cleaning the bathroom, and I'm currently waiting on laundry. Once laundry is done I need to run a few errands. But until then, I have to sit tight and wait. The last thing I need is to forget the towels in the washer - again. In the mean time I'm checking blogs, webcomincs, etc., while listing to the Tangled soundtrack. :)

So it's snowing. Like, A LOT.

It's going to be a white Thanksgiving where I live.

(Watch, in two days a Chinook wind is going to blow through and it will all melt.)

And guess who has a meeting she has to drive to tomorrow. X3 I didn't drive my car at all last year in the snow so I have no idea how it handles in the snow. I guess I shall find out tomorrow.

I smell like almonds, myrrh and dark musk. I smell quite witchy, actually. Today's scent is Hecate from BPAL's Excolo collection. It's rather enchanting in a dark and mysterious way. I like it, and I think I may get a bottle of it down the road.

In other news, I'm plugging along in DotNW because I have copious amounts of downtime, even though I should probably go through all of my drawers again and clean out the stuff that I don't wear anymore. I should probably also get a box to put all of this in, but that would require use of my car, which is currently down with a case of, "WTF SPEAKERS GO IN." My husband is replacing all of the speakers in my car (since he replaced the back deck speakers two weeks ago) to give me the most rockin' sound system EVER. In theory this is all great and grand, except he's having issues getting the speakers into the car. I'm wondering if he should have started with the back door speakers instead of the front door speakers, because I could still use my car.

I have the sinking feeling that I'm housebound for the next couple of days until he can get everything figured out.

Boo.

Well, I suppose I should finish cleaning off the grill. I need to get that taken care of so we can do dinner the rest of the week.

"This is my island in the sun...hoy hoy!"

Yeah, so.

I don't have a job anymore.

The meeting this morning about my future resulted in, "Uhhh, we're all caught up and we don't need three temporary clerks, just one will suffice." Well, I wasn't that one.

So my six week position turned into six (or was that seven?) days.

However, if I do find another job on site, my HGET training should still be good - unless I get in with ANOTHER group, in which case then I'll have to go through and do THEIR HGET training. Bleh.

I'm back to looking, but I'm not holding up much hope, though. >_< Apparently that hasn't been that much out there.

I'm watching my husband play
Raving Rabbids Go Home!
and in particular, the "Apocalypse Cow" chapter. I have seen the end of the world. It says, "Moo!"

In any case, the game is cracktastically delicious, as I watch what can only be considered acts of terror in an airport. Two alien rabbits are running around in underwear (one in boxer briefs, the other a lacy red thong), pushing a shopping cart, and collecting as much junk as they can so they can go to the moon.

UbiSoft, based out of France and French Canada, as an off-beat sense of humor. It really can only be defined as "French." The Rabbids are rude, vulgar and hilarious - they're like Eric Cartman with red eyes and rabbit ears. The games, at least the first three, were made up of multi-player mini-games which are ridiculously fun when played with three or more people. Or just three or more people in the room.
Rabbids Go Home!
is a single player adventure that rolls, pardon the pun, like
Katamari Damacy
. But I don't think that you can beat it up Santa Claus in
Katamari Damacy
, though.

It is truly something that has to be witnessed to be understood.

In all other fronts, life is good. The mountain of laundry that had taken over the master bedroom has been reduced to a pile of delicates that will be washed tomorrow when the drying rack is cleared of its present drying load.

There is a mushroom cloud about 5 miles from where I live. Should I be worried?

So, yes, plugging away at NaNo, and wondering about that whole thing about chimps producing the works of William Shakespeare thing. Mostly because I feel like a chimp pounding away the keys not really making anything worth reading, but there are still words on the screen so obviously that must count for something, right? Ryder and Gabrielle finally decided that it was time to make up and Miss Olivia finally decided to butt out, so perhaps there's hope for my two love birds.

I've also decided to finish Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn and have decided that while the game is challenging (I honestly don't remember if I'm playing on easy or normal mode) it doesn't necessarily add to the experience. And what really pisses me off (and kept me from playing the game for nearly a year after I got it) is that when one of the PCC looses all of their HP THEY ARE GONE FOREVER. That means that for players like me, who want to get through the game with all characters in tact, find themselves replaying chapters when a character dies. Even a minor one who has crap stats and is useless I can't bear to loose. >_o Of course this makes the game ten times harder than it actually has to be. However, I do love Ike because by the time he's promoted to vanguard and using Ragnell full time (unlimited hits on the sword, BTW), he is a walking tank of badassery. Even if he's not doing one hit kills, he's doing it in two, often dodging petty attacks from minor characters.

I'm trying to beat at least one chapter a night (or afternoon, as the case may be) so that I can finish the game. Mainly so I can replay it, this time with slightly better options because base options are crap. And of course, somewhere in all of this, I'm still working on NaNo.

Part of this afternoon will be spent at the movies, as [livejournal.com profile] travellyr invited me and my husband to go see The Men Who Stare at Goats with her. We're going to the nice movie theater with the reclining chairs, so we can eat junk (I'm debating getting a large popcorn to share) and have some relaxing time before the Thanksgiving crush. As it stands, the husband and I are opting for easy food this week, things that don't require a lot of prep work, like grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup and mac'n'cheese. I think the most complicated meal we're making this week is the ham we're having tomorrow night, since we're making a pie for Thanksgiving that we'll be taking over to my husband's cousin's place. (More holiday drama to follow, I'm sure and I'll report it when it's time.)

I should probably shower now and see if I can squeeze in grocery shopping before movie, as opposed to after.

I seriously contemplated naming one of my characters in this year's NaNo project Remy LeBeau.

Someone, tell me please, how much am a dork am I that I actually, very seriously contemplated this?

For the record, the character's name is Remy Leclair, and he's only eleven years old.  But seriously, I wanted to name him Remy LeBeau very badly.  And now I want a Gambit icon for my LJ.

D'oh!

So my wedding band and engagement ring are due for their 6 month inspection.  I take them in to the jewelers and they look them over and if any stones are loose they take the ring and make the necessary repairs so I don't loose any of the diamonds.  Six months ago the wedding band was fine but there were some loose stones in the engagement ring.  Two weeks later I got it back, shinier and not in danger of loosing any stones.

Admittedly the ring isn't due for its inspection until next week, but still.  I was probably going to take it in this weekend simply because I was going to be out and about and in that neck of the woods anyway.

So imagine my surprise when I woke up this morning, went about my morning routine, and then finally looked at my hands as I checked my email this morning and saw that one of the stone was missing from my wedding band.  Instantly worried, I decided that I would start at the place where I spent all night to see if the stone was there.

Thankfully the diamond was sitting innocently on the mattress, winking at me from the overhead light.

Today I'll be running to the jewelry store to drop it off for repairs unless I decide to wait until tomorrow while my husband and I are out doing our errands.

So last night's Castle had me squealing like a little girl - because Nathan Fillion dressed up as Mal in any context is fantastically awesome. My husband was laughing at my fangirl stupidity, but I suppose that means I get to laugh at him when he decides to fanboy. It happens, rarely, but it happens.

Yesterday I spent most of the day with a friend who went to the hospital with suspected appendicitis.  Turns out that she only has a kidney stone, which will be painful and suck for a few days, but hopefully it will pass soon enough and she'll be right as rain.  What I did find out yesterday was a lot about myself.

1) In a medical emergency, I am cool as a cucumber.  Now, I more or less already knew this from my experience at Anime Expo, but it was hammered home yesterday.

2) After about the fourth time, simply hearing someone vomit no longer bothers me.  I'm a sympathetic vomiter as a general rule, but being with my friend as she continually heaved yesterday more or less desensitized me to it.  Of course I have no idea how long that will last.

3) Never underestimate the healing powers of a shower.  When another friend showed up at the hospital to be moral support, I took the opportunity to go home and take a shower, as I had woken up, thrown clothes on, and went to pick up my friend from her house to get her to a doctor.  I felt better after the shower (and a liberal application of my stress relief aromatherapy shower gel) and got back to the hospital in under an hour, which has to be some kind of speed record for me.

4) For all the crap I get from various people in my life about being unemployed, I've found that my being unemployed allows me to be available for my friends in an emergency situation.  It's a tough call  - gainful employment or available in emergency situations?  Hmmmm....

At any rate, today will be much less exciting.  I should probably call my insurance company and tell them that I bought a new car and see if they can get my insurance switched over from the T-bird to the Protege and I need to hem my party dress.  Not.  Exciting.  At.  All.

And I like it that way.

mercy_angel_09: (Escaflowne)
head-desk x 1,000,000 )

In happy news, I decided that it was time to watch Escaflowne again. I forgot how much I love that series. Sadly butchered by FOX Kids, it's a great series with action, comedy, romance and drama. And more drama. XD I put in the first disc and watched it as I cut out the pattern pieces for my party dress yesterday, which was interesting seeing as I was watching it in Japanese. (While I don't dislike the casting of the dub, I find the writing painful.) It's kind of a pity that the series lacks any definitive fanservice (all implied, damn it) but at the same time, it's almost what gives it some of its charm.  I'll probably continue to watch the series as I sew my party dress, though I might have suck it up and put the audio to English so I'm not just hearing chattering Japanese in the background.

I'm still looking for first-hand information about Louisiana as well.  ^^  Any help will be repaid with home made brownies.  And these are GOOD brownies too.  (They're not called Disgustingly Rich Brownies for nothing!)  And fudge.  I'll repay with fudge - granted you're not lactose intolerant.  ^^;;

I have found a WONDERFUL new site for train-wreckage and WTF-etude. It's called Lovely Listing and it chronicles the insane world that is real estate listings.

You have their mascot Chair (a white plastic lawn chair), and several interesting comments on the way that people choose to stage their homes in hopes of selling. BTW, for someone who watches lots of Design to Sell and Curb Appeal, I find these immensely funny.

And the fact that most of them come from Washington and California...well, icing on the cake, really. And they make screwy Doctor Who references.  \o/

Today is my baby brother's 12th birthday....which makes me feel old. Aside from that, nothing really interesting going on today.

In other news, you get this: The 20 Most Bizarre Craigslits Adverts of All Time as decided by the Daily Telegraph.

God bless the Brits for finding, and ranking, the best of Craigslist.

ZOMG, at twenty-five I should not be looking to buy the Indiana Jones Lego sets for myself.  Especially since I do not have the room for them.  I should also not be looking at the various incarnations of Mr. Potato Head (Optimus Prime, Bumble Bee, Storm Trooper, Clone Troopers, R2-D2, Darth Vader, and Indy, to name a few).  Jebus fuck on a stick.  I'm too told for this shit.

But I want it anyway.

As it stands, I was downloading the Lego Indiana Jones avatars, and am seriously contemplating buying the game because it looks ridiculously fun.  Like the Lego Star Wars games.  Not that I need the games.  Again we come back to wants.

WTF self.  Grow the fuck up already.

Now, I will allow myself to look at various Lego sets because my baby brother (well, he's not a baby anymore, he's turning 12)  has a birthday coming up and he loves Legos, and K'nex, and Erector Sets...well, anything you can build with, let's put it that way, shall we?  So at some point this weekend I have to go and get something for my brother's birthday, a card, and maybe some wrapping paper.  I may need to get another roll of some nice, all purpose, gender/occasion neutral wrapping paper since I honestly can't remember how much of it I have left.
mercy_angel_09: (Shigure WTF)
You get shit like this.  (Please note, THIS IS NOT SAFE FOR WORK.)

I have no words for this.  I really, truly don't.

In a completely unrelated (and yet related note) I just watched Robert Pattinson die in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.  X3  I will say this, at least he looks pretty when he's dead.

mercy_angel_09: (Shigure WTF)
How is it that I do not have a recipe for cinnamon rolls?  I'm fairly sure I have a cream cheese frosting recipe (that's how I like the icing on my cinnamon rolls).  But I do not have a recipe for the cinnamon rolls themselves.

Clearly I need a new cook book.  On that must include a recipe for cinnamon rolls.
mercy_angel_09: (Witch Hunter Robin)
So I realize that I really haven't made an update with any real substance as of late, but I've been busy.  I've taken in a Peruvian refugee and have been helping her get settled (and I do want to take a tire iron to the guy-who-broke-her-heart's knee caps) as well as job hunting.  She's been doing great, since she's bilingual she can find jobs easily - we need bilingual people around here like WHOA.

Further more, I'm looking for a job and feeling like there's really nothing out there, especially for someone who worked in a grocery store for eight years and has a B.A. in history.  Seriously.  I'm over-qualified to work retail (god damn it) and for that matter, I'm over qualified to work as an administrative assistant.  >_<  At this point I'm thinking that I'll have to be less picky, but I do know that if I start working full time at ANY job, I'll never get back to school and I'll never do what I want to do until I have a mid-life crisis and suddenly change everything about myself.

I honestly have no room to be picky - if I want a new car I need to get job.  If I didn't need a new car I could probably waffle about and spend my time volunteering somewhere because my husband has a secure job and makes decent money (he's an engineer for Christ's sake, there are more job openings than people) but not enough to buy two new cars a year apart.  And while I don't necessarily need a new car, I would like to get something under the Cash for Clunkers deal.  If the government is handing out cash, why shouldn't I get some, especially since my 95 T-bird is finally giving up the ghost and it DOES qualify as a clunker.  But even with the $4500, I still need to get a job to ease payments and perhaps take over paying the cell phone bill from my husband - especially since I have the smart phone with the bulk of the charges.  I can also pick up the tab for dinner, groceries, bills, etc.

Guh, being a grown-up sucks sometimes but not much I can do about it.  I'm twenty-five, after all.

I think I'm gonna go dunk myself in the pool (well, maybe not dunk, per say, but more like dip).  And then I have to figure out what the hell I want for dinner.
