Instant Gratification

Oh Gods. Netflix is so awesome. I could care less about getting the DVDs by mail, it comes down to what we can watch instantly.

A few months back we got a new TV. LCD, flat screen, inputs of all kinds.... Anyway, new TVs tend to be glorified computer monitors, and my husband and I took advantage of that fact and built an HTPC (home theater personal computer) to hook up to it. This weekend we set up Netflix with the intent of watching streaming movies.

And not just streaming movies, streaming TV. I found
Farscape
and
seaQuest DSV
, and have been happily geeking out. I forgot how much I love both of those series. My husband and I have been working though
seaQuest
and I'm sure once it wraps up, then we'll move on to
Farscape
.

Oh how I love the instant gratification.

^___^ Glad you're enjoying the service.

Just please, PLEASE do not call Amazon when you have a problem with Netflix. Or when you have a problem with YouTube.

Oh gods, humanity really has taken a turn for the worse, hasn't it? Have they called about Hulu yet?

It's pretty spiffy being able to turn the computer on, go the the website and select something to watch. Though some movies I have to wait to come in the mail because they are not instant. Boo.

Well, Amazon also has Video on Demand, which is a very similar service: it's just a per-movie or per-episode or per-season fee (which means, unless it's a rental, you can download it and keep it and watch it every day until you DIE no matter WHAT the licensors change their minds to), but if you watch enough stuff a month, Netflix is the better deal because Netflix is a flat rate.

No, they haven't called about Hulu. Yet.

So far, I watch enough of it to justify the Netflix account. You can find all sorts of fun stuff there. Like Hellsing. Gurren Lagann. The aforementioned Farscape and seaQuest. Everything Pixar. I mean really...I have enough options to keep me happy until I die.

The day the call about Hulu is the day the world implodes from stupidity.
