So the world comes crashing down around me.

Well, not really.  But sometimes it fees like it.  And because Amber decided that it had to be a THEMED party.  Let me explain.

In my circle of friends, there are several who have birthdays in November and December.  So instead of having a party every other week or every week, we hold one giant party some time in November or December.  This year, one of the birthday girls thought it'd be fun to make it a theme party.  Alice in Wonderland, to be exact.  So from there, everyone chose or was assigned a part.  By the time they got around to extending my invite, most of the choice roles were taken.  Finally I settled on the Duchess, because she is crazy and fabulous, and all in all basically like a drag queen.  I figured that I already had half the costume - the bodice from my Senior Homecoming dress.  I am no longer a size 4, though, so it was back to square one.

On top of having to make a whole new costume for the Duchess for the party that it supposed to be in the beginning of November, I am also making a Mardi Gras lolita for Halloween, as noted in my previous entry.  As far as the Mardi Gras loli goes, which is a Halloween costume on top of a Con costume, it's half-way done.  The dress is done, as is the vest (with the exception of trimming the elastic and putting the velcro on). leaving the jacket half-way assembled.  I also need to get my crinoline, otherwise I alve the other costume pieces that I need.  I did find a site online where I buy a simple crinoline for just over 20 dollars, because for a basic costume, I don't need a fancy crinoline.

Since I am so close to having my loli completed ( still need sew on Queen's collar, sewing jacket lining to jacket bodice, attach peplum to jacket bodice, assemble sleeves, sew sleeves onto jacket bodice), I figured with the rest of October I could make the Duchess's dress.  Which consists of a Renissance style skirt, a cinch and a skirt.  I'm going to use a blouse for my gypsy costume because it is period, if not slightly trashy and crazy.  Which is perfect fo the Duchess.  The skirt consists of primarily straight lines, which is easy enough to sew, and the cinch is small enough and few enough pieces that it too won't take too terribly long to sew.  Thank God.  Because otherwise I'm pretty sure I would kill myself.

So October is shaping up to be interesting.
