An Undertaking of a Grand Scale (sort of)

mercy_angel_09Call me crazy. I have decided that I want to read all of the Inuyasha manga. I finished Ranma not too long ago, fangirling right to the very end, and after 409 (or was it 407?) chapters and about two or three months (there were a couple of weeks where I didn't read it at all), I finished it, loving every second of it (the Jusendo Arc is hands down my favorite). I think that Ranma was a difinitive high point of Rumiko Takahashi's career. Anyway.
Part of my reading all of Ranma was also part of the AnimeLodge project. But more on AnimeLodge later.
After finishing Ranma, I thought to myself (rather stupidly, in some people's opinions) that I would move on to Inuyasha. This also goes into the whole AnimeLodge thing. Reading the manga made me want to watch the show, and when I pulled out what I have, made me realize just how inadequate what I recorded off Adult Swim is compared to the original. I have the movies on DVD (all of which are original stories not based in the manga) which I watch in Japanese because I like the Japanese cast and in some places the dubbing seems off (usually not in the writing, but mostly in the choice of actors or the actor's particular take on their character). So. I've decided that I need a job not because I want to work or to pay for something useful, like school or bills, but so I can buy Inuyasha on DVD. There ya have it. ><
Anyway, as far as reading the manga goes, I'm not even half way through. In fact, I'm only through about 45% of it. >< Twenty six more chapters and THEN I''ll be half-way through. Yup, it's almost insane. To put this into perspective, I read Ayashi no Ceres (83 chapters), Appare Jipangu!! (10 chapters, and possibly still going), Alice 19th (40 chapters), Imadoki (26 chapters), as well as keeping up with Fushigi Yugi: Genbu Kaiden (currently at 31 chapters), Ouran High School Host Club (currently up to 67 chapters) and the titles I was also buying the tanboken for (The Wallflower, Tail of the Moon, Fruits Basket, Kaze Hikaru) over the course of about two months (well, okay, more because the tanboken are only released every two or three months). Is there some sort of unwritten rule that Rumiko Takahashi titles must be obscenely long, or is that just a general rule for shonen manga?
Anyway, in the manga I'm up to the Shichinintai, which is by far, my favorite arc. There's something about the Band of Seven (I'm particularly fond of Suikotsu and Jaktosu, and even Bankotsu, to a degree) that I like, perhaps it's one of the more intense and dramatic arcs, where the storytelling is particularly well done. Eh, I don't know. What I do know is that I'm gunning to finish Inuyasha as soon as possible. Which of course, it's probably going to be a few more weeks before I can properly finish it (if I buckle down I can usually get about 50 or so chapters read in a day, since a chapter is only 18 pages long). Though, I have read the last chapter, so it's not like I don't know how it ends. Heh.
Until I can get a set of proper feature images, I'm wating on doing any more work with AnimeLodge. I also need more time to get fanart for the Fanart Fridays. I'm accepting contributions from anyone who's willing to donate (in a way) their work to be pimped out by me on the site. Also I'm working on various reviews by reading/watching/playing various subjects. So, that's why I've been reading so much manga, watching more anime as well as spending more time gaming. And I still get to find a job. XP I am nuts, CLEARY.
Anyway, I'm now going to pass time ruthlessly mocking fansubbers who apparently can't be bothered to get their spelling or grammar corretct (i.e. "Perhaps not returning for a while is the smrat thing to do." Smrat? What the hell is smrat?).
