Gandalf had the red ring, whose power was to 'light a fire in the heart amidst a world gone cold'. He was able to inspire others to rise to the needs of their time and act to the extent of their abilities.
I'd like to be able to do that. I think on occasion everyone does that for someone else. Maybe I help you out that way; I might be the kind of friend or influence that you happen to need right now.
It's just in general I don't feel that I have any consistent talent for it.
