Day 10 - A show you thought you wouldn’t like but ended up loving

Being a pretty avid football fan, and my team of choice playing in the NFC with the consequence of all most games being played on FOX, I was repeatedly spammed with ads for
BONES
. Don't get me wrong, I like crime dramas and crime dramaedies (see Castle for example), but with BONES there's a HUGE emphasis on the bodies in their various states of decay.

Being one who is pretty easily squicked by melting body parts, I stayed away from it until somewhere in season four. At that point most of my friends were insisting that I had to watch it, and since it had recently been picked up for syndication on TNT, I decided to watch a few episodes.

Of course bodies in various states of decay are still squick inducing, but I would then turn my attention to the characters. And, uh, David Boreanez totally doesn't hurt things at all. I've had a crush on him since his Buffy the Vampire Slayer days. So yeah. David Boreanz. Yum.

And I've been hooked since. I don't think I missed a new episode through all of season five and naturally I'm totally excited about season six. WOO!! I'm noticing that BONES loves to make use of the Los Angeles Convention Center as an airport. While I understand how the LACC can be used as an airport, I also know the building pretty well now and...um...YEAH.

Day 09 - Best scene ever

Well, your dream was telling you that you are secretly in love with Luke and you wanna marry him and have his twins.  )

What I love about the aforementioned scene is that not only was it copious amounts of Ship Tease in the beginning of season three, but it sets the tone for Luke and Lorelai's relationship for the season. Lorelai has the somewhat startling realization that she might be in love with Luke (even though she said as much to her mother in Season One, though that might have been to spite Emily), and explains her increasing jealousy towards Nicole as the season progresses.

Day 08 - A show everyone should watch

Mythbusters.

Seriously. Science that almost always ends in explosions. Big explosions. Learning about the different uses for duct tape. (I wanna make a boat out of duct tape!!) How Hollywood does what they do. All in the name of SCIENCE!!

When I was baby-sitting my younger siblings, I always knew that Mythbusters was a good choice because they would actually learn something, and little kids like it when things go, "BOOM."

Day 07 - Least favorite episode of your favorite t.v show

Strangely enough, my least favorite episode is also my favorite episode. While "Raincoats and Recipes" is great because Luke and Lorelai finally get together after four seasons of Ship Tease, it also made me really angry.

At this point Rory makes some sort of Face Heel Turn where she goes from being smart and witty to being dumb and whiney. The whole sleeping with Dean even though he's married? Uh, what? I feel like this is something that Rory, even after being at college for a year, would never do. First of all, despite being somewhat desperate for a boyfriend at the end of season four (probably not helped by Tanna pointing out that Rory was boyfriendless the whole school year and everyone else trying to set her up), Rory generally had enough common sense to avoid such a situation. And her jumping all over Lorelai for sleeping with Christopher back in season two?

First of all, Christopher and Sherry were over. Sherry was in the process of moving out. Then she found out that she was pregnant. So they got engaged (and do we ever know for sure that they even got married?) and started to raise Gigi until Sherry bolted. The the point IS that Lorelai didn't set a crappy example - Rory merely lashed out at her mother with an illogical assumption that wasn't even correct.

And sadly, for me, the rest of the seasons showed Rory Got Worse. I don't think she even remotely returned to the Rory we all grew to love until midway through season seven, where, even without direction from ASP, she was a more grown up version of the original Rory. Seriously, I never thought that Rory could annoy me until this episode, and she spends most of seasons five and six getting worse. Ugh.

Day 06 - Favorite episode of your favorite t.v show

"Raincoats and Recipes" - the final episode of season four of Gilmore Girls. Luke and Lorelai finally stopped with the "will they or won't they" and finally hooked up. And it was adorable. Lorelai tripping over herself because, c'mon, it's LUKE. Her coffee guy, the guy she can snark with, and yeah, he's been a great friend but really? This is the guy that she's been waiting for?

Hell yeah!!

And of course Luke, who's spent so long unable to make a move, decides to take it slowly so he doesn't scare Lorelai. And he buys her flowers. GUH. SO. CUTE.

And of course, this classic exchange between the girls:

Lorelai:
No hustle, no hora. It was a slow dance, a waltz. Luke can waltz.
Rory:
Luke can waltz?!
Lorelai:
Luke can waltz.
Rory:
Look how you just said, "Luke can waltz."
Lorelai:
What, I'm just saying, I'm surprised that Luke can waltz.
Rory:
That sounded more like, "I'm surprised I still have my clothes on."

Day 05 - A show you hate

I do believe that they would fall under trashy reality television. So...Survivor, Big Brother, Real Housewives, Jersey Shore...I can't even watch them to mock them, that's how much I dislike them. Not all reality TV is bad - I've quite enjoyed the likes of Dancing with the Stars and Project Runway - but most of it is trash that is quite frankly, appalling.

Day 04 - Your favorite show ever

Hands down, Gilmore Girls. I can't even remember why I started watching the show in the first place, but what I do remember is that I was immediately hooked. I can't remember who said that audiences are as smart as you let them be, and Gilmore Girls allows their viewers to be very intelligent. Rapid fire dialogue, obscure pop culture references, and an ability to tackle hard subjects like teenage pregnancy, peer pressure, single parenting, and the consequences of sex that would have you laughing one minute and crying the next. Sadly, after season five things took a slow roll downhill as Amy Sherman-Palladino was no longer directly involved with the show, and suddenly the characters only retained minor similarities to their first season counterparts. Alas, all good things come to the end, and in 2007 Gilmore Girls wrapped, but probably not on the terms that ASP had in mind. While I like to think it could have ended better and that perhaps we'll get a movie, I seriously doubt it at this point. Most of the cast has moved on to other projects and many have said that they've moved on from the characters. Kind of depressing for us fans, but that's life.

Day 03 - Your favorite new show (aired this t.v season)

I'm gonna bump this back to the 09-10 season as opposed to the summer season, as most summer seasons are just getting underway.

My favorite new show (actually, the ONLY new show) this TV season was The Forgotten on ABC. It was a new twist on crime drama, as it didn't focus on the forensics or even the cops/lawyers, but instead on a group of volunteers belonging to The Forgotten Network who work hard to identify the remains of "cold cases" so that family can be reached and renew the efforts to solve the crimes in the first place. Each member had their reasons for being part of the network (an ex-cop whose daughter had been kidnapped, the wife of a prominent figure who had been embroiled in scandal, a woman who was unsatisfied with her job, a man who wanted to good, and a troubled artist there on orders from a judge) and brought unique perspectives, resources and skills to the team. Further more, the victim narrated the story, reflecting on how the ended up dead as more clues about their identity and their murder came to light. The idea was to highlight that victim was a real person - a wife, a father, a daughter, a husband, a mother - who had family wanting to know what happened to them. Based on a real group of volunteers who work with police departments across the country, the show had a lot of promise.

Sadly, it wasn't much in the ratings, as the show was canceled after only 17 episodes. Let's see if we get something just as interesting next fall.

Day 02 - A show that you wish more people were watching

Honestly, within my own circle of friends and family, Burn Notice. I keep trying to convince my brother to watch it, mostly because the kid lives in Miami AND they've filmed episodes of the show on his college campus. I started watching the show because I spent the good part of the first episode I watched going, "Oh hey! I know where that is! I've been there!!" and from then on, I was hooked. (It probably didn't help that I was still harboring a fangirl crush on Jeffrey Donovan from his short stint as a charming jerk attorney on Crossing Jordan.) THAT said, tomorrow is my big day, as the fourth season of Burn Notice premiers tomorrow. :3 I may or may not be spending tomorrow doing the marathon that they'll be running on USA leading up to the premier.

Watch it. You know you want to. X3

Meme!! Because I'm bored, and I really have nothing substantial to say. So there.

Day 01 - A show you wish had never been canceled

Farscape comes to mind. The writing was brilliant and the characters were excellent. It was Sci-Fi with a broad appeal, and there were Muppets. How can you dislike anything with Muppets? But I digress. It was a series that was brilliant but canceled, as most of the good shows on SciFi were back in the day. The worst part was that I had just started getting into the show when it was canceled. I had heard about it from various friends, but when my sister borrowed the first season from a friend and plunked me down in front of the TV to watch it, I was hooked. AND MUPPETS. Guh. You suck, SciFi.

Hopefully I'll remember to do this every single day. ^^ An exercising in writing, this is what it's become.
