*Reply to this post (only if you wish) and I will pick six of your icons.
*Make a post (including this info) and talk about the icons I chose.
*Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
*This will create a never ending cycle of icon glee.
Trys accidentally gave me seven (combining "Luna" and "Wolfwood") but that's okay! More icons to love!!

A couple of years ago I decided that I wanted some Legend of Zelda themed icons. I managed to find some pretty nice ones by cruising the various Zelda fan sites, and the one with Link and the iPod was one of them. Since I'm a musical type person and a fan of the music based memes, I decided to use it here on LJ when music is a major part of a post.

This was found at the same time as the Link iPod icon. I actually used this as my default icon for nearly two years, before I decided that it was time to revamp my journal. I think Twilight Princess is my second favorite game in the Zelda franchise.

Poor, poor Luna. Any one familiar with Sailor Moon knows that Luna is the nanny cat to the protagonist Usagi. And anyone familiar with Usagi's behavior is probably aware of the fact that Luna would sometimes like to get a new job. Yes, that's how stressful being a nanny cat to a fourteen year old girl is. I find that I use this icon the most when I'm talking about job hunting.

The somber fellow in this icon is Nicholas D. Wolfwood, my favorite character from Trigun. Wolfwood tends to be a priest in name only, as he tends to behave in the exact opposite manner you would expect of a man of the cloth. The text is taken directly from one of Wolfwood's quotes from near the end of the series: "We're nothing like God. Not only do we have limited powers, sometimes we're driven to become the devil himself." Wolfwood is something of a deconstruction of the benevolent priest archetype, a cynical man who's probably killed more men than a professional hit man. His actions are driven by his own wants and desires, but he's never shown to be completely heartless. He is troubled by his path and the things he's done, and is naturally at odds with the series protagonist, an ardent pacifist who sees the good in everyone he meets.

So, when I was in elementary school Pocahontas came out and I was immediately smitten by Meeko. For Christmas that year I got this big, plush Meeko, who spent years sharing my bed, until I got married and my husband said, "No way!" to anything plush in the bed with us. Meeko's my buddy when I'm feeling sick (and interestingly enough, he was everybody's sick buddy when I still lived at home). Anyway, I remember wanting an all purpose "frustrated" icon, and the image of Meeko banging the compass on the rock trying after he realized he couldn't eat it came to mind. The picture itself reminded me of banging something trying to get it to work. So I found someone who had capped Pocahontas, found the image I needed, and made the icon.

This is the cover art from the yet to be released sixth book, River Marked. Someone in
mercy_thompson had posted a link to the newly released cover art and the artist's website. I downloaded the artwork and set about to cropping it in various ways to create icons. This was my favorite from the River Marked batch.
lorelai dirty

For any Gilmore Girls fan, they know that Lorelai's catch phrase is "Dirty!" - her ability to find a double entendre in any phrase is uncanny. Strangely, I have the same ability/habit.
