Well...damn...
Mar. 11th, 2009 09:07 pmLast weekend was my mom and my step-dad's wedding anniversary, so I was recruited for child care as they left on Thursday and my younger siblings had school on Friday. My husband and I went over Thursday night and spent the night with the kids, three cats and the dog.
I wish I could say that everything went smoothly, but my younger siblings are a vicious cycle. My sister is naturally a very outgoing person and she gets wound up very easily. My brother tends to be more laid back, but he feeds off of my sister's energy and then he's bouncing off the walls. Then my sister feeds off his energy and gets even more wound up....and the cycle continues.
So the two spent two days bouncing off the walls, being hyper, generally not listening to me. However, it was nice to spend time with the kids since I hardly ever see them anymore.
It's also conference time for the elementary school, so Monday afternoon I baby-sat my brother, and then spent all day with him on Tuesday. The difference? He was completely calm the entire time. He'd play Wii games for a few hours, shut it off, and then go play with his Legos, K'nex or Erector Set. He never screamed, yelled, screeched or bounced around in an annoying fashion.
If anything, it was a great reminder to my husband and I why we should wait to have kids.
Also, the entire time was spent reading through the backlogs of Two Lumps, which meant much inappropriate laughter during The Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring. I admit it, I was giggling over Gandalf's death. And Boromir's death. And during Frodo's stabbing. >.<
