So, today has been a house cleaning kind of day.  No, I'm not scrubbing every little thing because ZOMG DIRTY.  It's more of a, "Whoa, the clutter is spreading and I should probably get it under control."

This started in my closet, where my massive shoe collection was taking over the floor, followed by the massive amounts of clothing that I own.  And hey!  Wouldn't you know it, about a quarter of it I don't wear anymore or can't fit in to.  (Seriously, what IS it about marriage that makes you pack on the pounds anyway?!)   A couple of  pairs of shoes gave up the ghost and were tossed, and another couple of pairs were merely taking up space and therefore put into the Goodwill pile.  Clothes that were discarded from the closet were first given to my sister to pick through (because even though she's taller than me, she's skinny and therefore can fit into anything that I can't) before being thrown into the Goodwill pile as well.

There was also a massive pile of laundry, somewhat left over from my trip to California, so that was also thrown into the washer because it was spilling out of the hamper onto the floor.  And hey, the weather's nice (minimal breeze, pretty warm) so I had my husband string up the nylon cord on the balcony when he came home for lunch and have been drying my clothes on that - with the exception of socks and underwear because I'm not an exhibitionist, and the person with the balcony across from mine probably doesn't want to see my bright pink panties.  My reasons for using the clothes line is not because it's the green thing to do, it's more that I'm cheap and don't feel like paying for using the electricity to run the dryer when there is a perfectly good clothes line strung up on the balcony, along with the wooden drying rack that usually takes up space in front of the guest room door.  I did, however, still use the dryer because I'm not hanging my underwear outside in a communal backyard.  I'll rethink it when I have a private backyard with fence around it.  Maybe high hedges.

At any rate, the dry laundry is now inside waiting to be folded, which I'm dragging my feet in actually doing because I've been going, going, going since I got up.  I still need to find a home for the bags/purses that were also being stashed, and I need to refold the sweaters and buttondowns that are also hiding on the shelf and hope to God that I can actually talk myself into getting rid of them because I will never wear them again, and there's no point in hanging into them because I'M NEVER GOING TO WEAR THEM AGAIN.

Curse my pack-rat like tendencies.
