So, yes, plugging away at NaNo, and wondering about that whole thing about chimps producing the works of William Shakespeare thing. Mostly because I feel like a chimp pounding away the keys not really making anything worth reading, but there are still words on the screen so obviously that must count for something, right? Ryder and Gabrielle finally decided that it was time to make up and Miss Olivia finally decided to butt out, so perhaps there's hope for my two love birds.

I've also decided to finish Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn and have decided that while the game is challenging (I honestly don't remember if I'm playing on easy or normal mode) it doesn't necessarily add to the experience. And what really pisses me off (and kept me from playing the game for nearly a year after I got it) is that when one of the PCC looses all of their HP THEY ARE GONE FOREVER. That means that for players like me, who want to get through the game with all characters in tact, find themselves replaying chapters when a character dies. Even a minor one who has crap stats and is useless I can't bear to loose. >_o Of course this makes the game ten times harder than it actually has to be. However, I do love Ike because by the time he's promoted to vanguard and using Ragnell full time (unlimited hits on the sword, BTW), he is a walking tank of badassery. Even if he's not doing one hit kills, he's doing it in two, often dodging petty attacks from minor characters.

I'm trying to beat at least one chapter a night (or afternoon, as the case may be) so that I can finish the game. Mainly so I can replay it, this time with slightly better options because base options are crap. And of course, somewhere in all of this, I'm still working on NaNo.

Part of this afternoon will be spent at the movies, as [livejournal.com profile] travellyr invited me and my husband to go see The Men Who Stare at Goats with her. We're going to the nice movie theater with the reclining chairs, so we can eat junk (I'm debating getting a large popcorn to share) and have some relaxing time before the Thanksgiving crush. As it stands, the husband and I are opting for easy food this week, things that don't require a lot of prep work, like grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup and mac'n'cheese. I think the most complicated meal we're making this week is the ham we're having tomorrow night, since we're making a pie for Thanksgiving that we'll be taking over to my husband's cousin's place. (More holiday drama to follow, I'm sure and I'll report it when it's time.)

I should probably shower now and see if I can squeeze in grocery shopping before movie, as opposed to after.
