So there was a 3.6 magnitude earthquake roughly nine miles (less, if they're measuring to downtown Richland from the epicenter) from where I live just over an hour ago. The shaking lasted about two seconds, but it was enough to throw me a little. I never seem to realize these things go down until long after they happen.
Oooh, but I felt this one. ^^
You can read the USGS's official report on the quake here.
Fifteen minutes later there was a 1.8 magnitude aftershock that you can read about here.
So now, to go with our wildfires, we have a couple of earthquakes.
Ain't life grand?
I should note that I survived several small earthquakes while visiting my dad when he lived in Burbank. Again, I never realized that we had just gone through an earthquake until someone pointed it out, or else every car alarm within a five mile radius went off.
