Settings? I'm afraid that's a little vague. Are we talking about an AU setting (i.e. this ship as Pirates or Ninjas or High Schoolers or Film Noir or....) or the original setting of the series?

Okay. ^^

That would be like taking Tactics and saying, "What if Kantaru and Haruka were in modern Japan? Or were pirates? What if they met in college as roommates?" It's the idea of taking the characters from the canon universe and sticking them in an alternate universe. The High School AU is by far the most popular AU setting for any work - you can find HSAU for pretty much anything.

Ah, well, I figured I'd leave that up to whomever responded. I only listed my pairings because those are the ones I'm comfortable writing and have a solid enough grasp of that I won't be wondering if I've screwed something up. I suppose I could list possible AU settings, but I rather like the idea of someone just spontaneously giving me one, rather than picking from a preset list.

Abby/McGee, a sorta kinda AU that focuses on writer!McGee and Abby. Obviously it's not HUGELY AU, but you know what I mean? LOL.

So here goes nothing (this is my first time writing them, should be interesting):

He watches the way she's working, her focus on her computer screen as her fingers fly over the keys, her head bobbing slightly - completely in time to the throbbing pulse of the music of her lab, he notes with a quick smile - as she tries to find that one little piece of evidence, the lynch pin of their case that will bring everything together.

He's committing it all to memory for his next book, and as weird and slightly stalkerish as it sounds, it's relatively harmless - he's a sucker for the details because those are what make or break a best seller.

She is his Calliope, in spike collars and plaid miniskirts and platform boots, giving him the drive to keep writing even when everything seems utterly hopeless and nothing is coming to mind.

Oh gosh, I really hope that totally didn't suck. XD

Kratos/Anna - Anna is a pick pocket and Kratos is a police officer, modern setting.

He's supposed to hand her over to the system for her to be punished, but from the look in her eyes he knows that she's not a pick pocket by choice, but because she has no other choice.

He knows that he's going to regret this later, but he manages to convince the woman whose purse Anna had stolen into not pressing charges, and then escorts the scared young woman to his car and motions for her to climb into the passenger seat.

"You can stay with me," he tells her as he gets in and starts the engine, "I have a feeling that you need someone to look after you, help you out, and I'm willing to do that," and it's worth the brilliant smile she gives him, and the ice around his heart cracks a little and starts to melt.

Wow, limiting it to three sentence was hard!

Zoe/Wash - Tourist Trap

"It's a replica of Stonehenge, made entirely of poured concrete," Wash marveled. "Will wonders never cease?"

Zoe snorted, "This is hardly the most wondrous thing we've ever seen, Wash."

Zane/Jo - Costume Party

"You have to promise me you won't laugh," she called through the closed door, and she steadfastly refused to come out of her bedroom until Zane solemnly swore that he wouldn't so much as snicker.

She stepped into the living room in a cloud of tulle and sequin, her toe shoes causing her step awkwardly, and a small crystal encrusted tiara winking in the low light nestled in her dark hair that had been pulled up into a tight bun with a few loose curls around her face and neck.

Zane sucked in a breath before a wide smile split his face and he breathlessly stated, "Jojo, you look amazing."

Nathan/Audrey - Flash Mob

Audrey was smiling and laughing at the first flash mob in Haven's recorded history; Nathan on the other hand was standing next to her, hopelessly confused.

"People actually do this for fun?" he asked his partner, who had now pulled out her cell phone and was taking video of it.

"Nathan, just because you have no sense of fun doesn't mean everyone else doesn't either," she informed him with a smirk - he merely rolled his eyes and walked back to the Bronco to wait out the hullabaloo.

....I couldn't pick just one. ^^;

I am currently trying to broaden my horizons outside of Sailor Moon/Gundam so I decided to start Inuyasha. So far I'm really enjoying it! I'm also watching Noir and while it's good I don't think it's on the same level as the previously mentioned shows. Any suggestions on what else to watch? Yes, yes, I know you just made a list but.... Since you're more versed in Anime than me I thought I would ask. :)

Oh right, the meme. Hmm... Well, I see that the flash mob idea is already taken. For some reason I always wondered how Inuyasha would react if he witnessed one. Hmm... Duo and Hilde playing laser tag? Is that AU enough?

Inuyasha is good. I'd also suggest Ranma 1/2, it's also by Rumiko Takahashi. It's a romantic comedy, or a comedy with some romance. I guess it depends on how you view it. I'm also going to suggest The Vision of Escaflowne, since it's a mecha anime with a shojo twist. Well, really, I'm going to recommend pretty much anything that's listed above. Witch Hunter Robin, Gurren Lagann, Fruits Basket, Last Exile, Fushigi Yugi, Saiyuki, Trigun... those are pretty much my "must see" titles.

It really wasn't fair, playing laser tag with Duo, especially since black was the staple color of his wardrobe and his on the fly military training.

However, Hilde was a patient person, and so she picked her spot, bided her time, and when the God of Death dared to move positions, she pulled the trigger, the barest trace of a smile on her lips.

She let out a sigh of satisfaction at his cry of, "Son of a bitch!"
