The Thing That Goes Doink

My friend travellyr posted a rambling in her LiveJournal, about various thoughts on the zodiac, birthstones, and so on. Which of course got me thinking about much of the same things.

According to the solar zodiac, I am a Taurus. This means several things.

Okay, that works. My ruling planet is Venus, and being an earth sign means that I have "material resources, environment and possessions." Being a fixed sign, it means that I am " associated with focus, powerful concentration, individuality and determination." My nature is semi-fruitful. The tarot trump card associated with my sign is officially the Heirophant, while the card associated with my ruling planet is the Empress. My saints are Our Lady of Fatima and Saint Pancrasio. My apostle is Simon the Zealot. My angels are Haniel, Asmodel, Azariel, and Gabriel. My colors are green, turquoise, blues, pastel shades in general and pink. My flowers are violet, pink roese, foxglove, daisy, primula, columbine. My trees are apple, ash, cypress, fig and pear. The animal associated with my sign is (of course) a cow. The stone associated with my sign is the sapphire or the emerald, while the power stones are malachite, jade, blue lace agate, diamond, and rose quartz. There's more, but I'm being lazy. And I wish I could find the source of this infromation - but what I got most of this information from copies of computer print-outs and the URLs are not on the page. I've tried looking for the information via Google and Yahoo! searches.

Moving on to the lunar zodiac, I am a Rat. Rats have a fixed element of water, and being born in 1984 means that I am a Yang Wood Rat. Yang is characterized as hard, fast, solid, dry, focused, hot, and aggressive. It is associated with masculinity and daytime. My inner animal is the dragon, and my secret animal is also the rat. My Buddhist patron saint is the Senju Kannon, a depiction of the the Merciful Goddess with 1000 arms. I belong to the first trine, along with Dragons and Monkeys.

All of this adds up to 1984 being The Year of the Swamp Log (heat + water = humidity).
