So Acheron finally hit shelves, nearly a year after originally promised. I read it in two days. And I was blown away. It was everything that I had hoped for and more. Ash is such a central character that his story had to be amazing. Had to be. And it was. Sherrilyn Kenyon prided herself in the fact that Ash's history was a carefully guarded secret. That little bits and pieces would be revealed in the books. Then his story was told.
Wow.
Anyway, to celebrate the story, and Ash himself, Sherrilyn Kenyon's younger brother wrote and performed the song, appropriate titled "Ash" or "Ash's Theme" for her.
Ash's Theme
Lyrics by WarChild
You brought me back from the dead
but you don’t know what you put me through
There’s not very much that can’t do but I can’t keep away from you
You hate yourself for what you love but you can’t seem to get enough
Look into my eyes of silver babe are they not quite red enough
Chorus
And I don’t know what you want from me
I just want to be left alone
I wish that you’d just go away
Go back where you came from
You love me like a hurricane
Then treat me like a stranger
You build me up to break me down
I don’t need your kind of hurt
In my life I’ve danced with the devil
and I’ve seen the dark side of the moon
Even hell hath no fury compared to the likes of you
I’ve had to fight a lot of demons
And I’ve had to break a thousand chains
There’s no way I’ve come this far to go back to being a slave
Chorus
And I don’t know what you want from me
I just want to be left alone
I wish that you’d just go away
Go back where you came from
You love me like a hurricane
Then treat me like a stranger
You build me up to break me down
I don’t need your kind of hurt
Those familiar with the books understand that this is about Ash's relationship Artemis. Just how he feels about her. There is a reason why Simi refers to her as "the red-headed bitch goddess" after all. The song is slow and subtle - just like Ash.
