Potential Jobs
Aug. 23rd, 2009 10:27 amSo I've narrowed down a list of potential jobs - all in the education field because that's what I want to do if I ever get into and finish graduate school. Now, yes, they are working with kids considerably younger than what I would like - but what the hell, a job is a job is a job. The KSD is looking for three emergency paraeducators for three different schools, and a Montessori school insanely close to where I live is looking for a full time and part time employee. I do have some early childhood education under my belt (in math and social studies) which is a plus, but I don't know if it'll be enough. But there's no harm in applying, so we'll see what happens.
Also, my mom has my resume and she's going to hand it out to her contacts in the small business community and see if any of them are hiring for anything. I don't have official clerical training, but I'm organized, have great customer service skills and pretty damn good with a computer. I may need to figure out one more reference (which is difficult, considering I've only ever had one job) which means going back to my former place of employment and seeing if I can talk to one of the night managers about being a reference for me.
If I were less picky I could probably go back to where I was working, but that place has gone downhill and is no longer a place I want to be associated with. (It doesn't help that the assistant manager, IMO, is a total moron.) I don't want to work retail because I'd most likely be working hours where I wouldn't see my husband, or I'd only see him for an hour or two. Not always the easiest thing on a marriage. So I'm going to try for clerical or education and see what comes of it.
EDIT - What I really should be doing is going to grad school, but thanks to the poor economy that is a no-go because the local branch campus has canceled their program, another local branch doesn't have the qualifications I need, and there are no classes with state accreditation online.
So, workforce here I come.
