It went along the lines of her calling me going, "ZOMG graduation WTF?!" and I thought, "Well, what the hell, I'll distract her," and told her about my in-laws. I told her first that they rolled their truck and were in the process of renting a car, she then surmised that they were okay based on the fact that I didn't immediately blurt out, "Oh my God, my in-laws are dead!" Instead I calmly and rationally explained to her how things went down, mostly because 1) It had been a few days since the actual accident (it was on Sunday, she called me on Tuesday or Wednesday) and 2) I had a point to make that graduation is small potatoes and that really, things could be worse.
She had developed a theory about this now:
Theory of Conversational Priority: if information is of hierarchical importance, with more important information being imparted first, you can reasonably determine the answers to more important questions based on the order in which information was imparted.
This is something that amuses me to no end. Apparently she has another "hypothetical" example (which I'm guessing isn't all that hypothetical to begin with, because she "hypothetically" used my in-laws as fodder for her theory. ^^ Bless the girl, she's like a tack.
Hopefully soon we'll have more interesting things to discuss, as there is an impeding trip to Seattle to visit with antiquitydreams and her wife. I'm excited to see them, as I haven't seen Raven in YEARS and I've never met Naru. But Naru seems like a really cool person, so I'm eager to meet her. It's a cosplay event and since Trav and I don't have time to sew costumes, we're going as prop ninjas. Jeans, tee-shirts, sneakers. Add to that a magical bag filled with bubble guns, glitter, white boards and dry-erase markers. Our friend Ericka is probably also coming up, also as a prop ninja, and she'll be in charge of the backdrops. XD Between the three of us, there will probably be no end to the hilarity, as we provide the atmosphere for the cosplayers (with backdrops, shojo bubbles and shojo sparkles).
Oh yes, there will be fun.
