You know that exhausted feeling you get when you've been working your butt off for a good cause?

So do I. I know it quite well. That's how I feel right now.

The Mad Tea Party/Un-Birthday Party went off without a hitch, thank God. It was overcast when I woke up this morning and our worst fear was that it would rain. By the time the party officially started, the sun was shining and there was a nice breeze. (I was quite thankful for the breeze as I was wearing a bazillion layers (full blown crinoline and satin for the skirt)) and roasting. But the girl the party was for was happy with how everything turned out. I painted faces and socialized with the other volunteers, helped set up and take down tables, chairs, decorations, etc., and tried very hard not to pass out from heat exhaustion.

I think I'm going to take another shower, but I should probably empty out my car, first....

Sundays are easy going days, if by easy going you mean involves massive amounts of cleaning. X3

But today will be easy because the bathroom doesn't need to be scrubbed quite yet. But it'll probably need it tomorrow afternoon. As it stands, today will be spent cooking the noms for the Birthday Party and getting creative with wrapping. I don't think I'll be pulling out the calligraphy set this year, but decorate with markers. I have no idea what Mel and Trent are doing for theirs. (Knowing my husband, he'll wrap it whatever he can find.)

I dug out the Rock Band stuff Friday, and officially brought it out yesterday. It's currently sitting in the living room, under the TV as a reminder of "Remember this or die." I also have to remember to grab the games. Because all of that equipment is useless with out the games.

Yesterday I bought fabric for my party dress as well as some costume pleather for Athena's chest plate. I'll probably start cutting out my dress on Wednesday (minor road trip on Tuesday) and get it sewn before NaNo starts. (NaNo is another entry for another LJ.) It'll probably be after Halloween before I can truly finish Athena. At least I have the grommets and don't need to buy them. I also hit up Bath and Body Works for scented oils (Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin, Black Currant Vanilla, and Spearmint Eucalyptus.)  My place is going to smell good.  Hurrah!

Also showing my dorkitude, I bough Heat Wave by Richard Castle.  I'm as yet to officially start reading it, but I'm excited.  Part of my purchase is to show my support for Castle which is in some trouble with ABC, as the ratings aren't what the network wants them to be.  I also want to buy the first season on DVD.  I'm not one for letter writing or calling, so I'll show my support by faithfully tuning in on Monday nights, purchasing promotional materials (like Heat Wave), and getting the series on DVD.

Anyway, I think my shower is now free and I need to clean up before diving into the kitchen full bore to get food ready for the birthday party.

My husband and I now have a proper headboard for our bed. Not that it looked bad without one, but it certainly makes the whole bedroom feel complete with it. Said headboard also provides nice hand-holds, y'know, in case things get a little rough. X3

In other news, I'm trying to write an entry every day to see if I can have at least one month where the everyday is nicely chronicled. Not every entry is of consequence, but I find it an interesting challenge.

As to the upcoming birthday party, I bought the materials to make the gift for the person I drew as well as patterns for cosplay and the party dress for my husband's company Christmas party.  I still have to figure out what color I'm going to make it, as well as find shoes and decide if I'm gonna be a classy dame and get myself some opera length gloves.  I'm also going to make a long sleeved bolero jacket to wear of my black halter dress, so that if I do decide to wear that to Katie's wedding, I'll have something to put over it so my arms aren't bare.  I'm also going to see if I can find a similarly colored flower to attach to the hip (probably with just a couple of safety pins).  It's a lovely blackberry purple color and will have a black lining.

So, if not volunteering or cleaning while my husband is away, I will be sewing like mad.  (On the plus side, assembling the gift for the person I drew for the birthday party will probably only take three hours, and that includes cutting.)

Also, I just realized that again I will be attempting to write a novel and sew.  I did it last year and I can do it again this year.  X3  I must be crazy.

Today the gang got together to discuss the upcoming birthday party. We HAD been planning on doing a lolita-themed party, but since several people just started jobs, are working full-time or close to full time, or have lots of events coming up, the lolita theme was dropped in favor of civvies and casual theme.

I like this idea. We're going to set up a TV with a Wii and play Rock Band, Raving Rabbids (all three), Mario Party, Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Wii Sports, Wii Sports Resort and anything else we think of. Get "Pin the Tail on the Donkey" and a pinata. A pinata filled with what, we're not sure of at this point. Play twister. Make comfort food (mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, turkey meat loaf, etc.). I REALLY like this idea. Because I don't have to fuss with making my Loli yet. ^^;;

ALSO - made the most freakin' awesome shrimp curry for dinner tonight. OH. MY. GOD. I think that I'll have to pimp that recipe out like a two dollar whore. It's THAT good. So long as you're not lactose intolerant or allergic to shellfish. XD
