It's weird, because I usually spend the first Wednesday of the month scrambling around, attempting to keep everything in order because stuff has to get done and I'm one one person and ZOMG WHY WON'T THIS DOCUMENT PRINT?!

Today has been oddly calm. I'm not behind in any way, shape, or form, and in fact I'm just sort of kicking it until I can go make copies and pick up meeting snacks. Which I'll be doing after one so I miss the lunch hour traffic.

In other news, I started up a Tumblr account which you can follow here. It's primary focus is fandom and other things that I like. Favorite movies, TV shows, squealing over .gif sets and so on. I won't be doing any hard core blogging there because, well, that's why I have this.

First of all:

Happy Birthday [livejournal.com profile] dqbunny!

Secondly, today has been spent poking at my pay job. I'm still not quite sure how everything works/is formatted/put together, so I'm poking at meeting minutes following the previous month's minutes as put together by the previous administrator for the TCLBA as a template. So far so good, but I took a ton of notes and I have no idea what all goes into the minutes and what can be excluded. I guess right now I'll throw everything in and then I'll have my mother go over them to make any necessary changes.

Thirdly, I have the second to last KNRC fundraiser meeting tonight. [livejournal.com profile] travellyr just informed me that they're putting hockey stick key chains onto business cards (for the upcoming hockey night with our local hockey team) and if they don't get done by the meeting, the meeting will be recruited to put them together. I volunteered to go in early as I usually spend half an hour or so at the library waiting for the meeting to start because I refuse to drive in the rush hour traffic if I can avoid it. So I'll be heading in to help attach key chains to business cards and promptly became the most loved person in the NRC office.

Finally, I had a nice dinner with my adopted sister last night. She's in town visiting my older sister and her family, and made time to have dinner with me and my husband. We went to P.F. Chang's for dinner and then to a local ice cream shop for dessert. After that we dropped her off at my sister's house (where she's staying) and went home. I watched the end of the Oscars, and then spend another three hours poking around the Internet, as I had slept late that morning and therefore wasn't tired until LATE.

That, of course, bit me in the ass this morning when my alarm went off at seven-thirty. I promptly hit "Off" and slept for another two hours. I finally dragged myself out of bed to take a shower and have a cup of coffee before diving into cleaning and work, all while listening to the Nerdist's podcast with Nathan Fillion. And probably in a little bit I'll do some exercise with Raving Rabbids Travel in Time (the dancing game is a full body workout), then shower and get my but to the KNRC office.

I suppose I should get back to the meeting minutes. The more I get down now the less I have to worry about before next week's meeting. At least the wind has died down.

I got the notice today that my wigs had shipped from Amphigory. I ordered my wig for my My Little Pony and a my wig for Sheena. They should be getting here sometime next week, when I'll have to spring four a couple of wig heads (I'm sure I can pick those up at Sally Beauty Supply) so that I can get to styling. I'll also have to pick up some styling products as well. I don't actually own hair gel (well, gel that doesn't react to black light, that is), so I'm going to pick up a bottle of Got-2-B, which is what [livejournal.com profile] sideshow_ericka suggested because it'll wash out should I need to restyle. However I think Sheena's wig will just be Sheena's wig and unless I don't have another choice for a wig, I won't restyle it. I don't think I'll be doing much styling with the My Little Pony wig, probably just combing it out and getting it to lie the way I want it.

I also got the notice that my saree had shipped and it should be arriving on Friday. I'm really exited about that, as Friday is the "last" Bollywood night before Maria gets married. If the saree does arrive before I head over to her place, I'll probably take it with me so that I can try it on (and show it off, because I'm like that).

I think that about wraps things up here. I still don't know how my grandpa is doing, but hopefully I'll be talking to my mom this afternoon and I can get that all sorted out. I also get to deal in invoices, which is always very intriguing and fascinating. Please note all intended sarcasm.

I suppose I should eat because it probably won't be too much longer before my mom calls to ask me to come in.

So the Seahawks lost to the Da Bears today, which isn't really that surprising. Part of it had to do with the loss of tight end John Carlson in the first quarter, leaving only backup tight end Cameron Morrah in his place - and while Morrah's done some good this season, most of the practiced plays were with Carlson. Then safety Marcus Trufant was also injured in the third quarter and all things just sort of went to hell in a hand basket after that.

Despite that, though, they managed a late rally to close the point gap to eleven, when it HAD been a shut out at 28-0. Anyway, we pulled off a field goal in the third and then three touchdowns in the fourth to at least make it look semi-respectable. Unfortunately, both Carlson and Trufant are in Chicago with concussions are will not me moved until the local medical staff are confident that they can be moved without risking further injury.

Aside from that today has followed the usual routine of cleaning. After the loss I diligently scrubbed the bathroom and did laundry. My husband has spent the last couple of hours playing Epic Mickey and I've been dinking around on the Interwebz. I really should have worked on fine tuning the sketch of my burlesque Sailor Venus, but I haven't really felt like it.

Which brings me to another point. My cosplay group would rather enjoy doing the Sailor Senshi as burlesque performers, and if we do it, I was nominated to be Sailor Venus because, well, for starters I'm not a proper LDS woman with garments and not afraid to show a little skin and two, I'm curvy. And because Sailor Venus is going to be the one front and center (because let's face it, she is one big hoochie mama), I was the ideal candidate. (Aforementioned reasons are also why I get to be Wonder Woman if/when we do super heroines.)

On Tuesday I'm going to go and sit over at [livejournal.com profile] travellyr's place and nag her to clean, all while picking at my actual job and probably reading. I might even take a sketch book and try and sketch out a couple of ideas for the Sailor Moon Burlesque thing. Maybe. Probably not, now that I think about it. I'll probably poke at my work and read the whole time. XD

So yesterday's apathy is gone. Thank goodness. Today I have plans, and if they don't get done today, they'll probably take the rest of the week.

First of all, I need to hunt down the oven manual and see about doing a self clean on it. It's not gross, but certain foods (particularly the ones that stay in the oven at a relatively high heat for any significant amount of time) are starting to come out with a slightly smokey flavor. When that happens, it's time to run the self-clean. And if for some reason that doesn't work, I'll pick up some oven cleaner, rubber gloves and some sponges and get to it the old fashioned way. Hell, I may still do it *after* the self clean. I also need an appliance bulb for the oven - the light went out over a year ago occasionally I'd like to be able to see what the hell is going on in the oven.

(EDIT - Upon doing a little research, it's going to take just shy of five hours for the self-cleaning cycle to do its thing. So the cleaning the oven won't happen today, and tomorrow it'll be too warm. But! Tomorrow I'll do the pre-cleaning (getting the major debris cleared out) and run the cycle on Thursday when it cools down again.)

Secondly, I need to reorganize the tupperware cupboard. I realized this as I was putting away clean tupperware yesterday and about half of it nearly cascaded to the floor. That's not good at all, so in a few minutes it will all be pulled out, sorted, and then put back in a manner resembling organization.

Third, once again I need to go through my clothes and find the stuff that won't fit or is too holey to wear anymore. If the stuff it too holey, I may look into upcycling it into quilt. As it stands, I have several anime based tees that simply don't fit, but I don't want to get rid of. I figure I'll just turn them into a quilt I'll put in the back of my car (along with the other emergency blankets, lulz), just in case I ever need it. If the stuff is in good condition but doesn't fit, I'll let my sister pick through it, take what she wants, and then the rest of it is getting trucked to Goodwill. (In all reality, this is probably a project for the rest of the week. I have a lot of shit to sort through.)

Fourth, [livejournal.com profile] travellyr is coming over to look at the HTPC this afternoon. It's the beastly machine, built with the sole purpose of being a home theater. She's looking to build a computer, and since my husband built the HTPC (and his own PC) we offered to let her come over and take a look at them to get an idea about them being roughly what she wants/needs. After that, she and I are going to the CREHST (Columbia River Exhibition of History, Science, and Technology) Museum to check out the new exhibit on Suffragettes in Washington, as well as allow Trav to see it for the first time. I'm also going to inquire about volunteering there. Let's face it, how many volunteers do they get who have history degrees and don't have to constantly look up the facts? I figure it would get me out of the house a few times a week, and if something should open up at the museum I could get a job where I actually use my degree. Works for me.

Finally, I have my usual cleaning. Since dinner was leftovers last night, the amount of cleaning today is what I used to make cookies last night and breakfast dishes. And making the bed takes all of five minutes anymore. Yup. Easy, easy.

If you were wondering, I think yesterday's apathy was caused by the realization that I didn't really have any big plans for this week (which I obviously changed, lol). I was working my butt off on Sheena, and when she was done I was cool with a little down time. Except I figured that I was going to take a few days off and then start in on the Christmas party dress. Well, by now you should know that there were some serious hiccups when it came to that so my plans were derailed.

So you know, I tend to be very goal oriented. I think it's why I survived college. I have a paper due on D day, so by X day I need to have research done, and by Y day I need to have the rough draft ready to be proofed. It worked. Anyway, it's not like I completely go 'round the bend when plans are derailed, but sometimes it confuses me and I don't like that. And in the case of having my plans derailed as far as sewing projects went, it resulted in me having something akin to the BSOD (that's blue screen of death, for those of you not familiar with it) where all I wanted to do was just shut down and do nothing.

After a couple of people pointed it out, I realized that I probably should get out of the house more or not allow myself to not have something to do. Not that I dislike being a homebody but every so often I just need to get the hell out and see other people. I think volunteering would help with that, as well as the occasional trip out of town. (Maybe I should go visit my godparents again?) Since I went over to visit with [livejournal.com profile] sideshow_ericka and her roommates yesterday, I've had some socialization beyond my husband today, and I'm planning on going to my baby brother's football game tomorrow. And yes, I'm seeing Trav today so there's more socialization!

Anyway, I've wasted about half an hour on this entry and I really should get down to business. Forward ho!

WTF is there an emergency poncho in the drawer with the appliance manuals?

[Error: unknown template qotd]That really depends on what I'm doing.  I was a soundtrack whore the entire time I studied for mid-terms and finals or would be working on research papers.  Most of them were anime based (Shojo Kakumei Utena, LAST EXILE, Hellsing) when working on my homework.  I like peppy and upbeat music when I'm cleaning, mostly classic rock, but occasionally techno and dance.  Though there are some days when I'm listening to classical for ALL purposes.
